According to Barbara De Angeli's book: Secrets about Men Every Woman should know, men are programmed to fix a problem since they were kids.  A woman may run to them with a problem, only seeking comfort and hugs but they will automatically think how to solve it.

This happened with my beau during my last trip where I poured my heart out in tears about my mother's possible marriage to that old fraud, and even though he has just gotten news about his neighbours death, he sat on his computer, lit a cigarette and came up with a solution and advice.  I love the fact that he was more interested in solving his woman's (moi) issue.

How right was that Barbara.  Perhaps I should re-read that book and look at it in context this time.
